When the going gets tough, Mallakia Asali Wells rises up and out toughs the tough. The entrepreneur and mom of three didn’t let losing her job of 20 years in the healthcare industry set her back. Instead, fueled by a dream to own a brick-and-mortar store, an unwavering self-confidence, and do-it-yourself tenacity, she researched how to start her own business from the ground up. Out of her efforts, she launched Asalai, a fashion boutique for modern-day women of all shapes and sizes. Now, three years since launching, Mallakia is living out her dream, with Asali locations inside the Arden Fair Mall in Sacramento, an online boutique, and Walmart online.
